Notice of Special Election Scheduled to Fill District 8 Vacancy
on the MoBar Board of Governors

This announcement is to serve as notice that a special election has been scheduled to fill a vacancy on The Missouri Bar Board of Governors from District 8. The vacancy was created when Patrick B. Starke became immediate past president of the Board of Governors at the end of this year’s Annual Meeting on September 20, 2013. This election is to fill the vacancy for the remainder of Mr. Starke’s term as a District 8 representative, which ends on September 12, 2014. 

Nominations for this vacancy on the Board of Governors shall be made by petition signed by not less than 10 members of The Mis­souri Bar in good standing enrolled and entitled to vote in the respective district. A brief biography and picture must accompany a nomination petition.

Such completed petitions, along with a bio and picture, shall be mailed or delivered to the executive director of The Missouri Bar and received by 10 a.m. on October 9, 2013 prior to the election. Each member of The Missouri Bar may sign as many nominating petitions as there are members of the Board of Governors to be elected from the district in which the member of the bar is enrolled and entitled to vote.

Ballots containing a link to vote online will be disseminated electronically to members of The Missouri Bar in good standing enrolled and entitled to vote in District 8 by October 15, 2013. Only members with valid e-mail addresses on their official record with The Missouri Bar will receive the electronic ballot. Electronic voting will end at 10 a.m. on November 5, 2013. While electronic voting is encouraged, members can contact The Missouri Bar by mail, telephone, fax or e-mail to request a paper ballot. All completed ballots for this special election must be received by the executive director of The Missouri Bar no later than 10 a.m. on November 5, 2013.
