The Sixth Circuit Judicial Commission has changed the date it will meet to interview applicants and choose nominees for the circuit judge vacancy in Platte County. The new date is October 2. The location is the Platte County Courthouse. (More)
The Supreme Court of Missouri’s Committee on Civic Education and the state judiciary this week announced a new statewide competition – The Constitution Project – for high school students. The program uses hands-on experience related to careers in law enforcement, the court system and journalism to increase an understanding of the Constitution. Tax help links
The U.S. Treasury Department and the IRS ruled that same-sex couples, legally married in jurisdictions that recognize their marriages, will be treated as married for federal tax purposes. The ruling applies regardless of whether the couple now lives in a jurisdiction that recognizes same-sex marriage. (More)
