Eric Galton and Jean Sternlight will be the two keynote speakers at the ABA Section of Dispute Resolution’s Advanced Mediation and Advocacy Skills Institute in San Antonio. Galton will discuss “Proper Use, Management and Care of the Mediator by the Advocates” and Sternlight will address “The Psychology of Ethics in Negotiation and Mediation.” Eric Galton is a cofounder of the Lakeside Mediation Center. He has been a mediator for 25 years, and is the immediate past president of the International Academy of Mediators. He is a distinguished, credentialed mediator, and his recent book, Stories Mediators Tell, was published by the American Bar Association in 2012. He is an adjunct professor at Pepperdine School of Law, Straus Institute for Dispute Resolution, and has mediated over 7500 cases. Jean Sternlight is the Michael and Sonja Saltman Professor of Law and also Director of the Saltman Center for Conflict Resolution at the University of Nevada-Las Vegas Boyd School of Law. She teaches courses on dispute resolution, including both litigation and alternatives thereto, as well as on psychology and lawyering. Frequently cited by courts and the media, Sternlight is co-author of Psychology for Lawyers: Understanding the Human Factors in Negotiation, Litigation, and Decision Making published by the American Bar Association in 2012.
