HB 975– Driver’s license. (See Administrative Law/State Government)

HB 979 – School foundation formula. Removes the dollar value modifier from the school foundation formula.

HB 1055 – Corporal punishment. Prohibits corporal punishment from being administered in public schools in this state.

HB 1075 – Instructional materials. (See Education Law) Modifies the requirements for course materials and instruction relating to human sexuality and sexually transmitted diseases. Prohibits any person or entity from furnishing course materials or instruction relating to human sexuality or sexually transmitted disease to its students if such person or entity is a provider of abortion services.

HB 1115 – Liability protection for school employees. Expands liability protection for school employees and volunteers from matters of school discipline to include other issues handled in conformity with the established policies of the school board. Exempts employees who are not qualified to administer medication and who refuse to administer it from liability for refusing to administer medication. Allows school districts to require that an employee obtain the necessary training. Exempts qualified employees from liability for administering medicine in good faith and according to standard medical practice. Exempts trained employees from liability for administering cardiopulmonary resuscitation or other lifesaving measures in good faith. Provides immunity to persons administering defibrillators from liability under certain conditions.

HB 1136 – School funding. Repeals the adjustment in state aid to public schools based on fluctuations in summer school attendance.

HB 1309 – Criminal Forfeiture and teacher’s salaries. (See Criminal Law)

HB 1352 – Cardiac defibrillators. (See Tort Law)

SB 579 – Expands the crime of sexual contact with a student. (See Criminal Law)

SB 631 – Establishes the “Founding Documents Protection Act.” Prohibits an elected or appointed official, state employee, teacher, administrator, or local school board in any public school district of this state from prohibiting the reading or posting in any public building, school, classroom, or at a school event any excerpts from a specified list of documents and verses related to American and Missouri history, the civil rights movement, and patriotism. Prohibits censorship of any of the specified items based on religious content or reference. Prohibits the use of such documents, writings, and records to advance or inhibit a religion or particular religious belief.

SB 639 – GREAT Fund. Establishes a $25 surcharges on certain court proceedings to fund certain school-related education programs. Fifty percent of the surcharge will be deposited in the Gang Resistance Education and Training (GREAT) Fund. The remaining fifty percent of the funds collected will be used to provide matching grants to school districts to fund the after-school reading retreat program. Oppose, consistent with Board of Governor’s Resolution Regarding Legislation to Increase Court Costs.

SB 644 – School funding formula. Alters the formula provision that reduces current-year funding for any district that decreases its summer school average daily attendance.

SB 674 – “Bullying” laws. Defines “bullying” and prohibits school employees, volunteers, or students from bullying a student while on school property.

SB 687 – Vision examinations. (See Health and Hospital Law)

SB 727 – Employment of retired teachers. Allows the hiring of retired teachers to work between 550 and 800 hours without losing their retirement benefits.

SB 736 – Teaching of the Bible in historical context. Allows public school districts to offer classes in which the Bible is taught.

SB 753 - Sexual offenders. Prohibits sexual offenders from entering school property without the consent of the principal or administrator.
