Burke Elected as Eastern District Member of Appellate Judicial Commission
Tom BurkeThomas Burke was elected as the attorney member on the Appellate Judicial Commission for the Eastern District. Almost 2,500 lawyers voted in the electronic election that ended on November 5. (More)


Commission Releases Applicant Names, Demographics for 21st Judicial Circuit Vacancy

All thirty-seven applicants will interview for the current circuit judge vacancy in the 21st Judicial Circuit. The applicants include 24 men and 13 women. The median age for the applicant pool is 52. Public interviews are scheduled for December 19 and 20. (Applicant Names/Full Demographics)

Eastern District Court to Hold Memorial Service for Judge Carl Gaertner
The Missouri Court of Appeals, Eastern District, will convene a special session of the Court en Banc in memory of the late Hon. Carl R. Gaertner on Nov. 15 at 2 p.m. Judge Gaertner passed away March 3, 2011. (Full Details)

Lawyer Members Elected to Five Circuit Judicial Commissions
Six attorneys were elected to lawyer member seats on five Missouri circuit judicial commissions under the Non-Partisan Court Plan. The lawyer members elected are:

6th Judicial Circuit (Platte County): Keith Hicklin
7th Judicial Circuit (Clay County): James H. Thompson and Douglass Noland
16th Judicial Circuit (Jackson County): Teresa Woody
21st. Judicial Circuit (St. Louis County): Matthew J. Rossiter
22nd Judicial Circuit (City of St. Louis): Michael Calvin

Run-Off Election Set for Lawyer Seat on 31st Circuit Judicial Commission
Attorneys will select the lawyer member for the 31st Circuit Judicial Commission in a run-off election set for December 10. No candidate won a majority of votes in the election that ended on November 5, so the candidates who received the most votes in that election – Andrew K. Bennett and David W. Ransin – will compete in the run-off election.

Missouri Attorney General Offers Online Guide on Adoption Process
November is National Adoption Month, and Attorney General Chris Koster is reminding Missourians who are considering adoption that his office offers an online publication to help them throughout the adoption process. (More)

Federal Court Bankruptcy Filings Drop Eight Percent in FY 2011
Bankruptcy cases filed in federal courts for FY 2011, the 12-month period ending September 30, 2011, totaled 1,467,221, down eight percent over the FY 2010 bankruptcy filings of 1,596,355, according to statistics released by the Administrative Office of the U.S. Courts. (More)
