21st Judicial Circuit Commission Run-Off Election Begins
Lawyers Who Reside in 21st Circuit Have Until December 12 to Vote
The run-off election for the lawyer representative on the 21st Judicial Circuit Commission got underway yesterday. No candidate received the required majority of votes in the election held on November 6, triggering the run-off between the two candidates who had received the greatest number of votes - Richard Wuestling IV and Matthew Rossiter. Fall Committee Meetings Underway, 2010 Goals, Planning, Free CLE on Agendas
Susan MonteeMissouri’s State Auditor Susan Montee is wrapping up her luncheon remarks to hundreds of lawyers gathered today in Jefferson City for the Fall Committee Meetings. Thirty-two bar committees/sections, the Leadership Academy and YLS Council are meeting today. The Board of Governors meet at 1:30 p.m.. Fourteen committees offered free CLE on their agendas.

Annual Two Hour Professionalism, Ethics and Malpractice Prevention Education Requirement Replaces Three Hours Every Three Years Requirement
Supreme Court Rule 15.05(f) has been amended to establish an annual requirement of two hours of education in professionalism, ethics and malpractice prevention rather than the previous requirement of three hours every three years. The amendment goes into effect on January 1 and applies to the current July 1, 2009 – June 30, 2010 reporting year. (More)

Requirement for New Lawyers and Lawyers Reinstated to The Missouri Bar Also Amended
Rule 15.05(e) now requires lawyers admitted or reinstated to The Missouri Bar after June 30, 2009 to obtain two hours of professionalism, ethics and malpractice prevention education within 12 months of admission. Lawyers admitted or reinstated prior to July 1, 2009 are still required to obtain three hours of such credit within 12 months of admission. (More)

The ABA this week launched a new Web site intended to inform the media and public of important cases in the nation's federal appellate courts. Media Alerts on Federal Courts of Appeals is a collaborative effort to broadly disseminate timely, accurate and unbiased information about noteworthy and legally significant cases in the federal courts of appeals. The site will be updated daily.

Online Job Applications for Federal Law Clerk Jobs Rise 66 Percent
A total of 401,576 electronic applications from lawyers seeking jobs as federal court law clerks were received in fiscal year 2009, a 66 percent increase from the 241,529 applications received in 2008 via the Online System for Clerkship Application and Review (OSCAR). (More)
