Amendment to SB 976 and SB 767 Reduces Six Judges in 22nd Judicial Circuit, One Judge in the 43rd

 

The House Judiciary Committee yesterday approved two amendments that would reallocate the distribution of circuit and associate circuit judges. The proposed changes include reducing the number of circuit judges in the 22nd Judicial Circuit by six and removing one circuit judge from the 43rd Judicial Circuit. The amendments were added to SB 976, an omnibus judicial bill that exceeds 400 pages and SB 767, which would authorize hiring of contract counsel by the Public Defender to represent indigent defendants in certain types of cases.
