The excitement and anticipation of a wonderful Annual Meeting begins here, when the largest gathering of lawyers and judges in the state have their first chance to get together and enjoy one another’s company in a very casual, relaxed reception atmosphere.  Enjoy good conversation, laugh and unwind as you catch up with old friends and make plenty of new ones. Mingle or get comfortable at one of the tables; this outstanding networking atmosphere offers open bars and a splendid array of delicious hors d'oeuvres – enough to make a meal or just hold you over until dinner in KC with friends.

Lawyers and judges get the unique opportunity to enjoy remarks by the Chief Justice of the Supreme Court of Missouri at this luncheon. Judge Laura Denvir Stith will provide her second and final update on the state of the Judiciary to members of the profession. This luncheon also provides an opportunity to recognize this year’s class of senior counselors, lawyers who are celebrating 50 or more years in practice or who have attained age 75. And this year, you'll get a preview of the initiatives on 2008-09 Missouri Bar President Tom Burke's agenda.

If you enjoyed the spectacular evening with a full moon over Art Hill in 2004 or playing like the pros on the field at the Edward Jones Dome in St. Louis in 2006 or hitting for the fences at Hammons Field in Springfield in 2007, you already know that the annual Best of Missouri reception is “one of a kind.” If not, this should be your year to experience the Annual Meeting’s unique signature event, consistently rated 9+ on a 10 point scale by those who attend. The American Jazz and Negro League Museums will be the setting. After the "Best of Missouri" Reception, the fun continues courtesy of the Young Lawyers' Section. The young and the young at heart will extend the evening at one of Kansas City's hottest spots - Mosaic. Sleek and sophisticated, with soft seating, champagne by the glass and an outdoor balcony, over looking the Power & Light District, Mosaic is downtown Kansas City's premier destination for cocktails, mingling and late night festivities that include soundtracks provided by the area's premier DJs.

One of the most popular events on the annual meeting schedule, the reunions of alumni from law schools across the state and nation traditionally draw large numbers of lawyers and judges anxious to meet old friends, make new acquaintances, renew memories, share stories with fellow alumni, and catch up on the latest developments at their alma maters.

Century Foyer; Century A & B

This gala dinner, preceded by a reception, will bring down the curtain on the 2008 Annual Meeting with a flourish. The dinner will be highlighted by a number of presentations to bar members and others in recognition of their contributions to the legal profession, the administration of justice, and public service. In addition to the awards, attendees will get a hilarious look at the political scene through the eyes of comedian and political impressionist, Jim Gossett.

The banquet will also feature the traditional "changing of the guard" as 2007-2008 Missouri Bar President Charlie J. Harris, Jr. passes the gavel to his successor, Thomas M. Burke. And Sen. Claire McCaskill will be on hand to provide brief remarks.

The banquet is the only event on the Annual Meeting schedule that is not included in the meeting registration fee. Tickets to the banquet are available for a price of $75 per person.






Other Activities

The Annual Meeting has the wonderful opportunity to have many other groups that take the opportunity to meet or hold an activity and Mo Bar has activities too.
