The Road Map of a Federal Prosecution
Speakers: John Davis and Matt Schelp
Moderator: Elizabeth Moran
This program traces the origin of a federal criminal prosecution from the ‘behind the scenes’ early investigative stages through the charging/grand jury, pre-trial motion, trial and post-trial processes. Discussion will also include the guilty plea process and sentencing issues. This course is exclusively concerned with the federal system and, while it may serve as a refresher to experienced federal practitioners, it will be especially beneficial to the novice federal practitioner by outlining and examining the various phases of a federal criminal case and how they differ from state practice. The presenters are past and present Assistant United States Attorneys and federal defense practitioners with over 30 years combined federal court experience.
