Jennifer K. Bukowsky

Bukowsky, JenniferJennifer Bukowsky is a criminal defense attorney with her own law firm across the street from the Boone County Courthouse in downtown Columbia, Missouri.

Jennifer regularly uses technology during jury trials, contested hearings and even in written motions and briefs. During a six-day murder trial last year, Jennifer relied heavily on technology- especially video technology- to defend her client and to obtain what she’s told was the first acquittal on a Boone County murder case in 47 years.

Prior to opening the “Bukowsky Law Firm” in 2010, Jennifer worked as a lead trial attorney for the Missouri State Public Defender System in the Columbia trial office.

Jennifer worked for one year as a Missouri Supreme Court Law Clerk for Hon. Mary R. Russell after graduating law school.

In 2006, Jennifer graduated cum laude from the University of Missouri-Columbia School of Law and received Order of the Coif. During law school, Jennifer was on the Missouri Law Review (two articles published), she won 1st place in the Mock Trial competition, “Top 10 Oralist” in the Moot Court competition, the Wallace Walter Prize for being #1 in the class after first year, and numerous other awards for academic achievements in specific courses.

Jennifer is a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) and worked as an auditor prior to attending law school.

Jennifer serves as the Criminal Law Committee Chair for the Boone County Bar Association. She is on the Boards of Directors for the Columbia Chamber of Commerce and the Heart of Missouri United Way. She is a member of the Women’s Law Association of Mid-Missouri. She served on the Missouri Bar Criminal Code Revision Subcommittee until the revision’s completion at the end of 2011. She also participated in the Elwood L. Thomas Inns of Court.

Jennifer lives in Columbia, Missouri with her husband Brant, their six-year-old son Blake, and their four-year-old son August (“Gus”).
