Solo and Small Firm Committee

I. Call to order – Fred Cruse

II. SUB-COMMITTEE REPORTS:

A. 2007 Solo and Small Firm Conference – Linda Oligschlaeger to report

A report will be given on the latest plans for the upcoming Solo and Small Firm Conference on June 7-9, 2007 being held at Tan-Tar-A at Lake Ozark, MO including registration numbers to date, assigning moderators for programs, and an update on sponsors and exhibitors.

B. Law Schools Connection – Alan Gallas, Paul Henry, David Ransin and Dan Haltenhof will report.

A report will be given about the law schools’ participation by sending students to the Solo and Small Firm Conference as well curriculum that would benefit students interested in practicing in a small firm. In addition, volunteers will be solicited who are willing to serve as conference companions to law students during the SASF Conference.

C. Scholarship Committee – Corinne Corley to report

A report will be made about the development of scholarships for needy solos or law students to attend the Solo and Small Firm Conference.

D. Legislative RulesMark Pasewark to report

A report will be given about a dedicated leave rule (a/ka/ vacation rule).

A report will also be given concerning a draft of a Supreme Court Rule that would require the OCDC to notify lawyers when a complaint is filed against them even if the OCDC does not investigate or purse the matter through the disciplinary system.

E. SFIG Listserv – Karl Timmerman to report

A report will be given on the SFIG listserv activities.

F. Forms Bank/Wiki – Scott Garner and Andrew Starr to report

A report will be given on the collection of forms to be shared online by the committee as well as how to use the SFIG WiKi set up by Andrew Starr.

III. UNFINISHED BUSINESS

A. Successor Lawyers for Solos – David Rubin to report

A discussion will be held about how to match solos to become successor attorneys to develop a plan in case of death or disability.

IV. NEW BUSINESS

A. Discussion about proposed Supreme Court Rules on Unbundled Legal Services – Alan Gallas to report

A report will be given by Alan Gallas, chair of the Unbundled Legal Services Committee, about the proposed new court rules concerning unbundled legal services and pro se litigants.
