Appointment Vacancies

Seek Appointment to Missouri Bar Committees and Related Entities

The Missouri Bar Board of Governors routinely appoints members to serve on various bar-related boards and committees. Please find a listing of any such open vacancies below.

When such vacancies occur, the Appointments Committee (a subcommittee comprised of members of the Board of Governors), reviews nominees and makes recommendations to the board.

To nominate yourself for a position, simply provide the requested documentation via email to appointments@mobar.org by the deadline listed. The Appointments Committee will then conduct a thorough review of all nominees and prepare a recommendation to the Board of Governors.

The Appointments Committee is committed to diversity and inclusiveness within the memberships of Missouri Bar committees. To that end, the Appointments Committee will consider diverse elements of the bar – including but not limited to age, race, gender, sexual orientation, disability, geography, firm size, and area of practice – when considering potential appointees.

Fee Dispute Resolution Committee

Vacancies: One

Deadline: April 21, 2017

The Fee Dispute Resolution Program works to improve the legal profession’s image through the resolution of fee dispute complaints. The program is available on a voluntary basis to help resolve fee disputes between Missouri lawyers and their clients. The program offers facilitation, mediation, and binding arbitration to assist the parties in resolving the dispute.

Lawyers and non-lawyer professionals generously volunteer their time to serve as facilitators, mediators, and arbitrators. As a result, this program is able to provide fee dispute resolution services at no cost to the parties.

The program serves the entire state of Missouri with the exception of the Kansas City area, which is served by the Kansas City Metropolitan Bar Association’s fee dispute resolution program.

The Fee Dispute Resolution Committee oversees this program. The committee is composed of seven members (four lawyers and three non-lawyers) appointed by the Board of Governors of The Missouri Bar. Members serve four-year terms, with service limited to two terms.

There will be a lawyer vacancy on the Fee Dispute Resolution Committee effective May 2017. To nominate yourself for this position, please send complete biographical information and a statement of interest to appointments@mobar.org no later than April 21, 2017.
