This program will focus on how judges and corrections authorities will be applying new rules to some class C and D felony and drug offenders after legislation passed by the General Assembly and signed by the Governor established new evidence-based provisions that include earned compliance credits, administrative jail sanctions and mandatory placement in 120-day program for some offenders on probation, parole, or conditional release. Treatment courts are established in 43 of the 45 circuits in Missouri. In the past two years, the number of DWI courts doubled and veterans’ courts have been introduced to Missouri. This program will describe these exciting new programs, provide statistics specific to the programs, and offer an overview of how treatment courts save lives.

During the past year, Missouri’s judiciary has been forging ahead with its final piece of a fully electronic court system, implementing eFiling for matters before the Supreme Court of Missouri, all three Missouri appellate courts, and in the 11th Judicial Circuit (St. Charles County). This session is designed to bring lawyers and judges up-to-date on these implementation efforts and to provide information on future plans to implement the system in other circuits across the state. A brief demonstration on how easy it is for attorneys to register to participate in the eFiling system will also be included.
