From the President

P. John (Jack) BradyIt will be my pleasure to welcome members of Missouri’s bench and bar to Kansas City this fall for the 2014 Annual Meeting. I look forward to joining you for three days of learning, socializing, networking, and building upon the professional and personal relationships that play such a vital role in strengthening our profession.

To that end, we will again this year utilize the meeting format that made its debut at last year’s Annual Meeting, which allows attendees to maximize their overall meeting experience by choosing the events and programs that meet their needs.

One of the real highlights of this year’s Annual Meeting schedule is the Best of Missouri Reception, which will take place at the new Kauffman Center for the Performing Arts in dynamic, revitalized downtown Kansas City. This unique structure hosts two separate theaters/concert halls, each recognized as a world class performing arts venue. We’ll have the opportunity to marvel at this architectural wonder while enjoying delicious cuisine and beverages with our friends and colleagues.

In addition to the Best of Missouri Reception, all of the popular fixtures of each Annual Meeting – the annual address by the Chief Justice of the Supreme Court of Missouri, law school alumni luncheons, recognition of deserving members of the bench and bar, and more – also appear on the meeting agenda.

While these events play an important role in promoting camaraderie and building pride in our chosen profession, the real focus of each Annual Meeting is on learning. That also remains a priority this year, with plenary sessions featuring nationally recognized speakers and a wide range of track programs addressing the legal issues we face on a daily basis. The result is a package of educational programming that truly offers something for everyone.

Please take a moment to review the outstanding package of educational sessions, special events and networking opportunities the 2014 Annual Meeting offers, and then make plans to join me in Kansas City in early September. I promise that you will not regret the decision!
