I want to take this opportunity to encourage you to make plans to join your friends and colleagues for the 2013 Missouri Bar/Missouri Judicial Conference Annual Meeting in Columbia. Amid the diversity, energy and unique vibe of this educational and cultural center, lawyers and judges will gather to learn, socialize, network, and build professional and personal relationships with their colleagues.
To accentuate that process, this year’s Annual Meeting offers a significant change in format designed to streamline activities and allow attendees to maximize their meeting experience.
One thing that hasn’t changed is the meeting’s focus on professional development. The 2013 Annual Meeting will be chock full of educational opportunities, with a wide range of programming designed to appeal to all Missouri Bar members, no matter their areas of interest. From plenary sessions featuring nationally recognized presenters to track programs addressing the timeliest legal issues facing Missouri practitioners, the focus will be on education.
Popular fixtures remain on the Annual Meeting schedule, including the annual address by the Chief Justice of the Supreme Court of Missouri, the Best of Missouri Reception, the law school alumni luncheons, recognition of deserving members of the bench and bar, and much more.
Making this year’s meeting dates particularly timely is the fact that one of Columbia’s outstanding annual events – the Roots n Blues n BBQ Festival – will begin its three-day run on Friday, September 20 – the last day of the Annual Meeting. As the name would imply, this immensely popular event features mouth-watering food prepared by outstanding barbecue chefs from across the Midwest along with an array of outstanding musical artists. This year’s festival features such familiar national artists as The Black Crowes, Blues Traveler, John Hiatt, Steve Earle, Mavis Staples, and Johnny Winter performing live.
Missouri Bar Annual Meeting attendees who are staying in town to attend this fabulous festival can take advantage of special discounts on tickets and weekend hotel rates at the Holiday Inn Executive Center available to attendees when registering for our conference.
Please take a few moments to look over the treasure trove of personal and professional enrichment opportunities that will be available to you in Columbia this fall and register now. We’ll see you there!
