The Joint Commission will co-host the two days of programming with the ABA Commission on Women in the Profession, and DirectWomen, an organization that strives to place women attorneys on the boards of U.S. companies.

Gender Pay Equity: Is Progress Being Made?

There is a long-standing gender pay gap in society at large as well as the legal profession. This program will discuss the extent and breadth of the pay gap; explore the myriad reasons why it exists; and discuss strategies and solutions for ameliorating the pay disparity for women. The panelists will discuss specific best practices and strategies that law firms, clients and individual women lawyers can take to ensure greater fairness in client origination credit, compensation and client succession decisions.

Judge Mary Russell, Chief Justice of the Supreme Court of Missouri, will open the program with welcome remarks and introduce the panelists.

Power of the Purse: How General Counsel Can Impact Pay Equity for Women Lawyers

This program will feature several General Counsel or Senior In-House Counsel who will discuss the important role that GC’s can play to ensure that their outside women counsel are fairly compensated and are treated equitably in origination credit and client succession decisions. Panelists will explore best practices and specific strategies that have proven successful in promoting diversity and the advancement of women lawyers.
