SB 338 (See also HB 315)Legal services to needy persons. Provides that no attorney shall be prohibited from providing uncompensated legal services for needy persons. Provides that any provision of law, rule, regulation, or policy that requires a public official or employee to devote his or her full time to their office, or that prohibits such person from engaging in the practice of law outside of his or her official duties, shall not prohibit an official or employee who is licensed to practice law in this state from providing legal services to needy persons if such services are provided without compensation.

*HB 518 – Basic Civil Legal Services Fund. Repeals the Legal Services for Low-Income People Fund and directs the transfer of certain moneys in the Tort Victims’ Compensation Fund to the Basic Civil Legal Services Fund. This bill eliminates the Legal Services for Low-Income People Fund and transfers all moneys from the fund to the Basic Civil Legal Services Fund.
